Corrosion resistance

The moderate carbon content of 1.4301, this quality tends to sensitivity. By welding and the use at high temperatures there is the possibility of intergranular corrosion. A good corrosion resistance is reflected in natural environmental media ( water, rural and urban atmosphere) at absent-ness of significant chlorine and salt concentrations. 1.4301 is not suitable for applications in which it comes into contact with sea water, nor is it suitable for use in swimming pools.
