Corrosion resistance

Qualtity tends to sensitivity, caused by the moderate carbon content. The formation of chromium carbides and the associated chromium-depleted areas around these precipitates make this steel susceptible to intergranular corrosion. The corrosion resistance in the most common foods and drinks is good, but as a result of the low nickel content is 1.4310 not as constant as 1.4301. The corrosion resistance decreases with increasing cold deformation and is polished in the state higher than with a rough surface.


  • 1.4310 primarily is used for the spring manufacture. So there is no need for welding.
  • A heat treatment after welding is generally not necessary
